THE WESTSIDE
While Santa Monica is the ultimate home for many, for others, who are looking for something different, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, or Venice could also be excellent choices. To give you a taste of what these areas have to offer, here are some of their characteristics.
BRENTWOOD
East of Santa Monica in Los Angeles there is neighborhood called Brenwood. Population about 42,000. It is located at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains. Famous and exclusive enclaves: Brentwood Park, Brentwood Country Estates, and Sullivan Canyon-an equestrian community. It is also home for many who like a more urban lifestyle and live in the many condominium complexes south of San Vicente Boulevard. Brentwood Country Mart and San Vicente Boulevard are the main shopping and walking areas of this very interesting central Westside location. World renowned Mount St. Mary’s College has its main campus here.
MALIBU
Famous, beautiful Malibu. One lives either west or east of Pacific Coast Highway, the road that cuts through this vast neighborhood that stretches all the way to the county line. Many celebrities and world renowned CEO’s live here in exclusive gated enclaves like The Malibu Colony, Broad Beach, and Carbon Beach in gorgeous estate overlooking the ocean. Exclusivity is important in Malibu, like land the more the better. While single family homes prevail, there are some very beautiful condo complexes. Malibu is also home of Pepperdine University.
PACIFIC PALISADES
Pacific Palisades is between Santa Monica and Malibu. This is a very charming village like neighborhood where single family homes abound from up in the hills to down to the bluff where you can see the ocean and coastline. There are beautiful shops and fantastic charter and neighborhood schools. Here time seems to have been standing still. Famous for its Farmer’s Market on Sunday where the best and biggest produce from the Ventura County farms arrives early in the morning, it also has the most well run and active Chamber of Commerce who puts on monthly events to promote local businesses.
